Year five for the stylized NBA card brand, 2018-19 Panini Noir Basketball maintains the contrasting color/black-and-white scheme while adding in some new options.
Similar to 2017-18, all the autographs are hard-signed and each 10-card box averages seven hits.
2018-19 Panini Noir Basketball Base / Inserts
Since the hits occupy seven spots in the box, that leaves three cards without an autograph or memorabilia piece.
The base and inserts take care of that. Limited options include Metal Frame Alternatecards for key names in the base set, as well as thematic subsets featuring framed Feature Length, Split Screen and Vintage Art cards. These framed cards are each numbered to 25 copies.
2018-19 Panini Noir Basketball Autographs / Relic
With only on-card autographs, the 2018-19 Panini Noir Basketball checklist packs some extra heat in the Rookie Patch Autographs set. Issued in color and black-and-white editions that each have prime swatches, all RPA cards are numbered to 99 or less. There are also Tag parallels.
Another popular aspect of Noir is the Spotlight Signatures line that focuses on photography. The dark design really makes the hard-signed gold ink autographs pop. These come in a vertical and horizontal orientation.
In addition, the 10-Year Anniversary Signatures insert celebrates Panini's 10th season making NBA cards.
There are several memorabilia choices, as well, including Newsreels Jerseys.
There is also a new set called Speaker Spotlight that draws attention to the shoes worn by superstars. However, there was no specific mention of it being signed or having a swatch.
