2013 Leaf Perfect Game National Showcase Box
2013 Leaf Perfect Game Baseball is not a set dedicated to pitchers or one of baseball's greatest single-game feats. Rather, it's about prospects and autographs, and there are plenty of both. For long-time prospectors, the Perfect Game name is likely familiar. Topps has been producing cards in conjunction with the Perfect Game High School Classic for years, although they're most commonly referred to as AFLAC autographs.
But the AFLAC autographs just focus on the culminating event. They are also only released in packs after a player has turned pro. 2013 Leaf Perfect Game Baseball focuses on the bigger Perfect Game Showcase. This opens up the number of participants to nearly 300 of the best high school players in the country.
2013 Leaf Perfect Game Baseball has a more traditional construction that a lot of the company's other products. Rather than being strictly autographs, there are base cards as well. That said, there are still lots of autographs. Every box has 12 packs of five base cards and one autograph. That works out to 12 autographs per box.
Every 2013 Leaf Perfect Game Baseball box also has a bonus box topper pack that come with a pair of exclusive Leaf Metal cards.
Although all packs will include one autograph, Leaf announced that unmarked Hot Boxes include 12 autographed jersey cards per box.
This product is definitely one that's going to take some time to see results as the players are so young. But the list of alumni is impressive. Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, Clayton Kershaw, Chris Davis, Manny Machado and David Wright are just a few of the current MLB superstars who have taken part in the event. With such a big checklist, there are bound to be a few standouts from this line in the years to come.
